General specification
Parallelogram
type with treads pivoting on full length stringers. Robust all steel
construction, the stair flight is mounted on a welded steel chassis
sub-frame.
Manual lift-mast locking pins fitted to protect against hydraulic
failure when elevated.
The stair treads & top-platform walking-area are surfaced
with punch/pierced steelplate. Lower step hinged for towing.
Sliding panelled doors on top platform with hand-operated
spring-bolts at both sides of the top-platform to facilitate opening
the aircraft doors with the Steps interfaced with the Aircraft.
Leading edges fitted rubber buffering.A pivoting-section with rubber
buffering is fitted at the leading edge of the top-platform to
compensate with fuselage contours.
The stair has tubular-steel side/hand rails with a mid-rail
fitted to both sides of the stair-flight. Full steel panels are
fitted to the sliding rails at each side of the top-platform.
Steering is turntable-type through a ball-bearing ring,
controlled by the tow-bar. Tow-bar has a 50mm diameter towing-eye
and folding grip-handle to assist moving.
Four, 5-stud fixing, two-piece wheels, with 15x4.5-8 super
elastic tyres are fitted on hubs with taper-roller bearings
Parking-brake – operating on front steering wheels, actuated by
raising the tow-bar.
Jacks are fitted to the sides of the chassis-frame.

Standard Finish
Chassis-Frame, Steering-Turntable, Tow-Bar, steps are Galvanised with ram & support frame painted
with zinc rich primer & black topcoat. High-visibility (red ‘day-glo’ painted) markings, are
applied to front/rear chassis corners and sides of tow-bar.
